Blinds are neat and compact, sit inside the window recess, clean easily and suit kitchens, bathrooms and offices. Types of blinds in brief
- Roller blinds. A single fabric panel on a roller. Available in blackout, dimout and sunscreen fabrics, and easy to motorise.
- Sunscreen roller blinds. An open-weave screen fabric that cuts glare and heat while keeping the view. The openness factor, such as 1%, 3% or 5%, is how open the weave is: lower means more glare control and privacy, higher means more light and view.
- Zebra (combi) blinds. Alternating sheer and solid stripes that slide past each other, so one blind moves between light and privacy.
- Roman blinds. Fabric that folds up in soft horizontal pleats. They are made from curtain fabrics, so any dimout, blackout, linen blend or jacquard can become a Roman blind that matches the curtains.
- Venetian blinds. Horizontal aluminium or timber slats that tilt; practical in kitchens and bathrooms.
- Vertical blinds. Vertical fabric or PVC slats; common in offices and on wide sliding doors.

Using curtains and blinds together
